Head Coach - Buffalo Area Aquatic Club

Buffalo Area Aquatic Club (BAAC) is looking for a fun, enthusiastic Head Coach who will continue to lead our team to greatness!  BAAC’s swimmers cover a range of skill levels from Learn to Swim to Futures Championships qualifiers, and they need a head coach who can inspire every swimmer to do their best. Our goal is to have every swimmer leave practice wanting to come back tomorrow and end the season eager for the next to start! True excellence requires a love of the sport, and we expect our coach to make the challenge enjoyable. We want the assistant coaches to grow professionally under the Head Coach’s leadership. You will be coaching in our home pool at The University at Buffalo’s Alumni Arena, an NCAA Division I university and home to the UB Women’s Swimming and Diving team. Long-course time is built into the training schedule, and the facility itself is first-rate. Our Developmental Program is using the pools in the Sweet Home school district.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary, on-deck coach of senior-level training groups
  • Coordinate stroke and training principles throughout all levels
  • Oversee group placement and advancement of athletes
  • Oversee all administrative aspects of the team including:
    • Meet selection, planning, and registration
    • Coordination of hosted meets
    • Practice scheduling for all training groups
    • Maintenance of all team statistics
    • Promotion of the team locally and within the Niagara LSC
  • Work cooperatively with the Board of Directors to:
    • Develop and administer the team budget
    • Create and execute a shared vision for the BAAC’s growth and success
    • Maintain a local presence and positive reputation within the Niagara LSC
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents

Our ideal candidate possesses the following:

  • A love and passion for the sport of swimming and a desire to share that with all of the swimmers on the team
  • The ability and desire to work collaboratively with the coaches, swimmers, their families and the Board of Directors
  • A clear, cooperative and tactful communication style
  • Strong organizational skills and the attention to detail necessary to be an effective administrator of a USA Swimming Swim Club
  • The ability to work with swimmers and coaches across multiple training groups
  • A willingness to mentor and advocate for swimmers who have an interest in competing at the collegiate level
  • Proficiency with swimming software such as HyTek and TeamUnify
  • Experience as a Meet Director   

Qualifications

  • Current USA Swimming Coach Certification in good standing, with a clear background check. Certification in American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and Coaches’ Safety Training
  • Experience as a coach at a high-performing swim club and/or collegiate level 
  • Solid knowledge of stroke theory and physiology
  • Proven capability to develop talent at all levels
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Salary

This is a year‐round, full-time salaried position with a compensation range of $40,000 - $60,000 annually based on qualifications and experience. Required/relevant training, certification and travel meet expenses are reimbursed.

 

ABOUT BUFFALO AREA AQUATIC CLUB

Buffalo Area Aquatic Club is a year-round USA Swimming club of 200 swimmers who won the 2023 Niagara LSC AG short course championship and has consistently placed in the top 3 for both short- and long-course seasons. Multiple age group and senior swimmers have represented the team at Age Group Zones, Speedo Sectionals and Futures Championships. BAAC holds Recognition Level 3 as a Board-governed team and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Assistant Swim Coach Positions Available at Mexico Tiger Sharks Swim Club

Job Description:

Mexico Tiger Sharks Swim Club is seeking energetic and passionate individuals to fill multiple Assistant Coach positions. As an Assistant Coach, you'll play a vital role in our club's success by providing support across various areas and helping our swimmers reach their full potential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach swimmers across different age groups with a focus on technique refinement and skill development.
  • Create and implement effective training programs.
  • Maintain a positive and encouraging environment that fosters growth and enjoyment of the sport.
  • Attend and support swimmers at swim meets, including some travel.

 

Requirements:

  • Current USA Swimming Coaching Certification or ability to obtain certification prior to employment.
  • Current in USA Swimming certifications: CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Athlete Protection, Concussion Protocol Training, Background check, Coaches Advantage Training, Foundations of Coaching, MAAPP 2.0 and/or the ability to obtain the certifications prior to employment.
  • Experience in competitive swim coaching, swim instruction, or competitive swimming within the last five years.
  • Excellent communication skills with athletes, parents, coaching staff, and the board of directors.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of swim instruction and coaching techniques, including stroke mechanics, starts, turns, and finishes.
  • Ability to work effectively with swimmers of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire athletes to achieve team goals.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment within the team.
  • Dedication to ensuring the health and safety of all individuals in and around the pool area.

 

Rate of Pay: Range is $15-25/hour depending on experience.

City Swim Project - Learn-To-Swim Director

 

The Learn to Swim (LTS) Director under the direction of the Executive Director is responsible
for organizing and implementing a diverse and safe swim program which will incorporate large
group and individual activities, swim lessons for all ages and promote program participation.
Responsibilities also include hiring, staff supervision, budget oversight, planning and
confirmation of staff assignments and schedules and staff training. The LTS Director is
responsible for providing quality leadership and supervision in a safe, enjoyable, and positive
environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with City Swim
Project policies and procedures. The LTS Director will develop plans and will implement new
procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals. The position’s key function is to build
strong, lasting relationships with members, employees and volunteers that will build healthy
lifestyles.
 
 
The selected candidate will be required to be a member in good standing with USA Swimming.
As a member in good standing, the selected candidate must pass including but not limited to: a
USA Swimming Background Check, Athlete Protection Training and adhere to all USA Swimming
and USOC Safe Sport protocols.
 
Responsibilities Include:
 
Essential Functions
• Must have strong customer service skills
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate all learn-to-swim staff.
• Develop, implement, track, and oversee the LTS department budget, in accordance with
City Swim Project budget guidelines and approval of the Executive Director.
• Review program schedules, staffing capacity and revenues to meet the community
needs.
• Maintain proper health and safety standards, in accordance with City Swim Project, USA
Swimming and Risk Management Inc.
• Know and understand all, state and local health and safety requirements, including Pool
Safety Plan, Emergency Action Plan, Emergency Evacuation Routes and staff
certifications.
• Collaborate and build positive relationships with participants, parents, staff and
community organizations, in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
• Serve as a role model to promote and demonstrate professional demeanor.
 
• Maintain all records, in accordance with regulations, staff training and certifications,
member registration, attendance and surveys as well as evaluation of participant skills,
and Department of Health (DOH) requirements.
• Maintain personal certifications and be responsible for recertification before expiration.
• Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings and special events.
• Maintain office hours accessible to membership
• Manage learn-to-swim instructor payroll
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred in the area of
Physical Education, Exercise Science, Health Education or related field.
• Minimum of one-year experience in an aquatics related management position.
• Certified as a lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, USA Swimming Coach (WSI, CPO and/or LGI
certification preferred).
• Excellent communication skills. Must have excellent oral communication skills to work
positively with different populations, in groups and individually.

• Effective leadership skills and strong work ethic.
• Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously

• This position requires that the LTS Director be able to swim well enough to maintain

• Be proficient or capable of learning computer programs such as Team Unify, Hytek and
social media.

Clarence Swim Club - Learn-To-Swim Head Coach 

 

Certification Requirements 

  • LTS Head Coach must hold the following certifications: 
    • USA Swimming Level 1 Coaching Certification and/ or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. 
    • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification 

 

On-Deck Work Responsibilities 

  • LTS currently holds four seasonal registrations: 
    • Fall: September – December 
    • Winter: January – March 
    • Spring: April – June 
    • Summer: July & August 
  • On deck coaching hours have historically been: 
    • Mondays & Wednesdays (5:15 PM to 8:45 PM).  
    • Saturdays, 8:15 AM to 1:30 PM. 
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 
    • setting up and managing all LTS registrations
    • managing the LTS website
    • assuring appropriate lesson coverage
    • being available for parents’ inquiries. 
    • setting level groups, group criteria, and swimmer expectations. 
    • the education and supervision of all coaching staff and instructors.
